Privacy and your data

Plain-language facts about what happens to your photos, based on how Zuno actually works.

On your device

  • Before anything is uploaded, Zuno makes a copy of your photo at up to 2048 px and re-encodes it, which removes metadata such as GPS location.
  • Your original file, the edited versions and your edits are saved in this browser (IndexedDB) on this device. There is no account and no cloud sync.
  • Zuno doesn't add its own encryption to this storage. Anyone who can use this browser profile can open your projects.
  • You can turn off saving in Settings → Image history. New projects then disappear when you close Zuno.

During processing

  • The working copy is sent over HTTPS to the Zuno server, which processes it in memory and sends the result back. The Zuno server does not save your photos.
  • Depending on how the server is configured, the photo is also sent to an AI service for cut-out and editing (fal.ai or OpenAI), or processed on the Zuno server itself. Those services handle data according to their own privacy policies and retention periods.
  • The server keeps a temporary rate-limit counter per IP address in memory. It does not keep logs of your images.

Deleting your photos

  • Delete one project from its ⋯ menu (Projects screen, or inside the project).
  • Delete everything in Settings → Image history → Delete all saved projects.
  • Clearing site data for Zuno in your browser removes everything as well.

Zuno does not delete projects automatically. Your browser might clear stored data if your device runs low on space; Zuno asks the browser to keep it when you turn saving on.

Support messages

If you contact support, your email address, subject and message are sent to the support inbox so we can reply. Photos are never attached automatically. Read the full privacy policy.
